French Heritage Day 2025
On June 29, 2025, the city of Winooski hosted Vermont’s 20th annual French Heritage Day. We at Sister Cities were present with an exhibition booth.
By chance, the date corresponded the bicentennial of the visit of General Lafayette to Winooski. In 1824-25 the French hero of the American Revolution had visited each of the the twenty-four United States as part of a “farewell tour.” The tour is being reenacted in 2024-25.
We are delighted that on his Vermont visit, the general stopped by our booth!
Le 29 juin 2025, la ville de Winooski a accueilli la 20e Journée annuelle du patrimoine français du Vermont. Chez Sister Cities, nous étions présents avec un stand d’exposition.
Par chance, cette date correspondait au bicentenaire de la visite du général La Fayette à Winooski. En 1824-1825, le héros français de la Révolution américaine avait visité chacun des vingt-quatre États des États-Unis dans le cadre d’une « tournée d’adieu ». Cette tournée est reconstituée en 2024-25.
Nous sommes ravis que le général soit passé à notre stand lors de sa visite au Vermont !
